Choice Hotels Canada's Book to Build Campaign
TORONTO — Choice Hotels Canada held its second annual Book to Build campaign recently. Last year, the campaign for Habitat for Humanity Canada surpassed
its fundraising goal of $100,000. This year, the goal has been increased to
$125,000 to help families in need of affordable housing.
Beginning Friday, May 11 until
Sunday, May 27, guests staying at any of the 151 participating Choice Hotels’ locations had a portion of their stay donated to Habitat for Humanity Canada. One
hundred per cent of funds raised will be directed to local Habitat for Humanity
offices to help families across the country.
Several Choice Hotels also planned individual fundraising initiatives in their respective
communities to support the campaign, from Newfoundland and Labrador to British Columbia. In addition to the
hotel-level contributions, members
of the Choice Privileges loyalty program looking to get involved were able to
donate their points as a way of contributing to the campaign.
Through its social
responsibility initiatives, Choice Hotels Canada supports reputable charitable organizations
that focus on shelter, education and community development as it relates to
children. Through Book to Build,
Choice hopes to raise $500,000 over the next five years for Habitat for
Humanity Canada.
TORONTO – Chelsea Hotel, Toronto, is a generous and long time partner of The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). Since 2013, the hotel has donated $500,000 in support of AboutKidsHealth, a trusted on-line resource created by SickKids experts. In collaboration with SickKids, the Chelsea CARES Program provides accommodation for families in need, creating a home away from home in what can be scary and stressful times.
Looking ahead, SickKids is taking on the greatest challenges in child health with the largest fundraising campaign in Canadian health care history, the SickKids VS Limits campaign, with the unprecedented goal of $1.3 billion through philanthropy.
As a valued donor, Chelsea Hotel has joined the fight against these limits by committing to raising $500,000 over the next five years in support of the SickKids VS Limits campaign, bringing their total commitment to the campaign to over $1 million.
“The ability to “give back” to the community is not only an important philosophy of Chelsea Hotel, Toronto but it is something the hotel practices every day. We are not only willing to go above and beyond to bring comfort to our guests, but also to bring comfort to families in need in the local community in which we operate. It is our hope to not only increase awareness for SickKids, but to continue to raise much needed funds to help those children in their care,” said Josef Ebner, regional vice-president – Canada & managing director, Chelsea Hotel, Toronto.
