TORONTO — There have been three senior leadership changes at Skyline Investments, as Christopher Lund has been promoted to senior vice-president, hotels and resorts, and Horseshoe and Deerhurst resorts have appointed new general managers, it was announced June 2.
Based at Skyline’s corporate office, in Toronto, Lund will continue to report to Skyline CEO Blake Lyon.
“My new role with Skyline will be threefold: to help the company continue to operate its directly managed (Deerhurst/Horseshoe/Bear Valley) hospitality assets at a high level of guest service and profitability, and to assist the stewardship of our non-managed assets (Pantages/Cleveland Hyatt/Cleveland Renaissance) to achieve the same,” Lund told CLN. “Additionally I will be assisting the company in identifying and acquiring additional hospitality-focused assets for Skyline's portfolio, as our goal is to double the size of our hospitality division in the next 24 months by acquiring first-class hospitality and ski assets in North America.”
Lund joined Skyline in 2011 as general manager at Deerhurst Resort, in Huntsville, Ont., and since February 2015 has been regional vice-president and general manager for both Deerhurst and Horseshoe Resort, in Barrie, Ont.
Prior to joining Skyline, Lund held many leadership roles over a 28-year period with major hotel brands in Canada, including Delta Hotels & Resorts, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts and Starwood Hotels. He also served on Canadian Lodging News’ editorial advisory committee.
In addition, Jonathan Reid has been named general manager, Horseshoe Resort.
Reid assumes the general manager position at Horseshoe after successfully moving into the director of operations role at the resort in April 2015. He will continue to report to Lund.
Reid will now lead the Horseshoe team through a relaunch of the resort's family ski experience later this year when Horseshoe introduces its $4 million Six Pack ski/mountain bike year-round lift.
Reid joined Horseshoe in 2010 as director of recreation and events, and prior to Horseshoe, worked successfully for many years in various facets of the ski, wakeboard and snowboard industry in Canada.
Jesse Hamilton has been named general manager, Deerhurst Resort, in Huntsville, Ont. Reporting to Lund, Hamilton will “work as a team with Jonathan to realize on synergies between the resorts and otherwise share their complementary skill sets,” said Lyon.
Hamilton joins Skyline with a wealth of leadership experience operating resorts in Ontario and the Caribbean. Most recently he was general manager of the five-star East Winds Resort in St. Lucia, where he led the relaunch and rebranding of the boutique resort. Prior to that, Hamilton was, for many years, the general manager of Cleveland House Resort, in Muskoka, Ont.
InnVest Hotels has acquired The Algonquin Resort St. Andrews by-the-Sea, Autograph Collection and The Algonquin Golf Course.
The new owners of the famed Windermere House hotel and resort on Muskoka’s Lake Rosseau intend to revitalize the building and its amenities while preserving the property’s historical integrity.
Proactive Hospitality has acquired the Coast Osoyoos Beach Hotel, B.C. CFO Capital arranged acquisition financing for the deal.
